Hectuor Ensemble was formed in 2017 at the LUCA School of Arts - Campus Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Belgium. The members of the quartet became colleagues through their initial work on Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Sextuor Mystique." From this initial gathering and subsequent performances, the quartet then took the name "Hectuor" as a subtle reference to Villa-Lobos' work.
The ensemble is enormously fascinated by modern contemporary classical music and would like, as its primary mission, to give precedence to living and young composers. Interested equally in working with composers to develop works for this new, unique ensemble and by introducing the larger public to the world of new music. Education is therefore decidedly important for them. At this moment, the quartet is working on new works by American, Belgian, and Greek composers.
